Movento®

An insecticide for citrus orchards, pomegranate, avocado, pear, grape, vegetables, herbs and flowers.‎‎‎‎Movento is a preparation from a new chemical group (tetramic acids) with a novel mechanism of action that inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids required to form cell membranes in the pest's body.‎‎ ‎‎The preparation is systemic, bidirectional and is transferred to all parts of the plant to which flow of solutes exists (both via the xylem and phloem).‎‎ ‎‎Movento acts to eradicate the target pest, particularly as a stomach poison.‎‎ ‎‎After the material penetrates plant tissues, a chemical transformation occurs that renders the material toxic to target pests.‎‎ ‎‎Thus, full biological efficacy depends on the active ingredient's ability to penetrate the leaf tissues and its transfer to all parts of the plant via the transportation systems.‎‎ ‎‎The preparation may become less penetrative and systemic, and thus less affective, when it is applied during a period in which the plant suffers physiological stresses (such as cold or dryness) or during a period where the plant is not actively developing/growing.‎‎ ‎‎For this reason, the optimal efficacy of the Movento preparation is achieved by applying on growing, green foliage and young shoots.‎‎ ‎‎In addition, covering the underside of the leaves will ensure penetration and transport of the active material in the plant in an optimal way.‎‎‎‎After the preparation is absorbed by the juvenile stages of various sucking pests, their ability to grow into more advanced stages is damaged (length of time to mortality depends on the stage of the pest and/or the conditions of the environment).‎‎ ‎‎The preparation also affects adult females by impeding their ability to lay eggs.‎‎‎‎The preparation is considered \"soft\" on natural enemies, and can thus serves as an important tool in a combined pest control system.‎‎ ‎‎The preparation is not toxic for adult bees and is not considered dangerous to their larvae under regular field condition.‎‎

Pests

How to Apply

  • Apply to growing green foliage and young shoots.‎‎
  • ‎‎Cover the undersides of the leaves.‎‎
  • ‎‎‎‎‎‎Grape:‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎In plots with a history of infestation, it is recommended to apply once flowering has ended.‎‎ ‎‎The time to apply the preparation is upon the beginning of infestation in the trunk, before it rises up to the foliage of the grapevines.‎‎ ‎Do not apply before shoot thinning.‎‎ Do not spray more than once a season.‎‎‎‎‎
  • ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎Citrus:‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ The time to apply Movento against rust mites is when infestation is lower than 2 mites on average per magnifying glass field (x10 magnification and 2.25 cm² field of vision).‎‎ The time to apply the preparation against red scale is in early spring, when spawning begins.‎‎
  • ‎‎Avocado:‎‎ The time to apply the preparation against red scale is in early spring, when spawning begins.‎
  • ‎‎‎‎Pomegranate‎‎:‎‎ Spray over full foliage volume.‎‎ ‎‎The time to apply the preparation is when infestation begins to appear in the area.‎‎
  • ‎‎‎‎Pear‎‎:‎‎ Spray over full foliage volume.‎‎ The time to apply the preparation is when the first summer generation is laid.‎‎ ‎‎If the first summer generation begins hatching before there is sufficient vegetation, use a different material prior to using Movento.‎‎ In case of mixed generation, consult a guide.‎‎ Apply the preparation no less than 10 days after CCC treatment of the orchard.‎‎
  • ‎‎‎Onion‎:‎‎ First spraying from the age of 3-4 leaves, additional spraying (as required) at an interval of no less than 14 days‎‎
  • ‎‎Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, watermelon, melon, zucchini, eggplant, pepper, tomato, butternut squash, pumpkin (Silverleaf whitefly):‎‎ ‎‎In crops sowed in the beginning of the season, before the pest appears in the field, apply the preparation when infestation appears in the area.‎‎ In new plantings at the peak of the pest's activity season, apply approximately two weeks after planting (when the pest's eggs hatch).‎‎ ‎Additional spraying (as required) at an interval of no less than 14 days.‎‎ ‎Do not spray more than twice a season.‎
  • ‎‎‎Herbs:‎‎‎ ‎‎Time to apply preparation is upon appearance of the pest in the area.‎‎
  • ‎‎Flowers:‎‎ Time to apply preparation is upon appearance of the pest in the area.‎‎ ‎‎Additional spraying (as required) at an interval of no less than 14 days.‎‎
  • ‎‎‎‎Do not spray more than twice a season.‎‎‎‎‎

Key Indicators

Mode of Action

  • Movento® has a very strong two way systemic activity. Movento inhibits lipid biosynthesis especially triglycerides and free fatty acids.‎‎
